Hello & Welcome to May News
"you can't stop the waves but you can learn to surf"
As the year moves on we have yet another special occasion to celebrate... our Mothers. Having had my Mother in hospital and unwell for seven weeks already this year I appreciate and treasure being self employed so I can spend quality time with her and be available to meet with doctors and make sure my Father is doing ok without her. Give your Mother the gift of Image this year and treat her to a colours or image consultation and she will receive $50.00 worth of Mary Kay product. This offer is available for the month of May 2010.Have a wonderful May with lots of success in all areas of your life. Stay warm unless you are in the Bay of Plenty where the sun always shines :-) Next month exercise tips, another recipe and what’s hot for winter.

What's hot overseas?
A very good friend on mine Adrienne von Tunzelmann has just returned from Spain and Europe. Having got caught up in the volcanic ash drama used her time effectively by noting fashions trends right now in Europe!
Europe is going into summer, so the shops are full of what we might expect for NZ’s coming summer. The overriding look for summer is best described as raunchy. It is hard to see what women will be wearing to the office! But on the street, women are still in winter clothes, so you can see what’s in vogue for us going into our winter. Everywhere – from London to Barcelona – you see VERY short skirts or mini-dresses, black opaque tights, ultra flat shoes or boots (mostly flat) in ankle or under-knee length (occasionally over the knee), with drapey layered tops. Coats (black!) are short, waisted and flared, rather than straight. It is a sweet rather than a smart look, although with a structured jacket and just-above -the knee pencil skirt it can look quite corporate. Having said that, structured jackets are hard to find unless you are shopping for Gucci in New Bond
Street! Pencil skirts are more plentiful and very versatile. They are being worn with long cardies for a ‘preppy’ look, with elegant tops for cocktail wear or with a silk blouse and blazer for office.
Accessories are a big item: belts (very narrow belts worn on the waist are in); necklaces (not so many long ones, but still statement pieces); scarves (triangular, worn stylishly with the ‘V’ in front and the ends crossed behind the neck and hanging loose in front); and shoes, shoes, shoes all the way from super-high ankle-breaking platforms to (mercifully) the flat ballet slipper. Leggings: less lycra, more skinny pants in stretch fabric with tailored details such as top-stitching, zips and inset panels to add shape. Pull-on stretch denim leggings minus pockets, flies and waistbands are fabulous – no bulky bits to show through slim tunics. A general observation: NZ clothes are less faddish, more edgy and more structured – in some ways ahead of the game. We do well for choice, and price.
Thanks Adrienne for sharing these insights with all of us first hand.
Book of the month!
Can we help it if we're fabulous? by Peta Mathias.
Published by A PENGUIN ORIGINAL, 2008
"The irrepressible Peta Mathias is a woman who has never been afraid to embrace life with all its glorious inconsistencies, joys and heartbreaks. While we know her as an engaging television presenter, an inspiring food writer and a delightful raconteur, in 'Can We Help It If We're Fabulous?' Peta instantly becomes every woman's confidante, as she shares with us the wisdom she has learnt over her years of living outrageously. She is a woman who appreciates the importance of a gorgeous pair of shoes and the perfect shade of lipstick. She knows the value of good friends, great music, lively conversation and beautiful surroundings."
This is a book just for women; well written with lots of laughs and would make a lovely gift (but make sure you read it first).
Health, fitness and lifestyle ideas for May
Welcome to our new segment focusing on your health and wellbeing. This month I have an overview of the three healthy rules of healthy living... ARE YOU SICK AND TIRED OF BUSTING YOUR BUTT WITHOUT RESULTS AND ARE YOU ACTUALLY GETTING RIGHT?
What if I told you there is a new miracle supplement that would instantly get you on the path to success? You would not be able to give me your money quick enough. Well sorry there is no such supplement so that means you can keep your money. Knowledge is power. Just as important as working towards achievable goals is the knowledge to know how to go about it and to generate real measurable success. Going on-line or seeking professional help can end up wasting time and confusion. A quick word of caution there are many passing themselves off as fitness gurus’s and only they know the secrets to a great physique. The truth is there are no secrets just basic fundamentals to effective training. So if it sounds to good to be true then chances are it will have no positive influence on your training and health. So taking care of the fundamentals training, nutrition and rest are the basic
principles for ultimate success. I will share these “secrets” in more detail in the following newsletter, so watch this space.
